Structure & Mechanism

Swing Solenoids work outwards through swing rod. Motions are characterized by bi-direction swing, high current trigger and self-hold or retain

Swing_rotary_solenoid_mechanismEnergize Solenoid with electric current (Picture A), and this will generate magnetic field with N pole on the upper arch and S pole on the lower arch. As a result, the rotor with permanent magnetism drives the swing rod to swing clockwise to position status shown on picture B.  (With rated voltage and load, Time from energizing solenoid to swing rod arriving at position shown Picture B is defined as Response Time.). Then even current is cut off, Magnetic Rotor and Swing Rod are then able to hold to or retain their position with Rotor’s magnetic force.

With position or swing rod shown in Picture C, apply a reverse current to solenoid. A magnetic field of reversed poles is come up, which drive Rotor and Swing Rod to swing counter clockwise, until the swing rod returns to its original position (Picture D). Then the current can be stopped and the Rotor holds on to its position magnetically. (The swing rod motion of move, hold, return and hold again shown by picture A, B, C, D is viewed as one operation cycle).
